Turquoise.

This week I got this text:
“Taking my kitchen table to Goodwill, but it’s yours if you want it.”
Nice.
My friend gave me this table,
and I knew right away what I wanted it to be turquoise.
I sanded the top down to the bare wood, then roughed it up for a very rustic look.
Then, I painted the base in SW Freshwater
and did some distressing.
The top was stained with Minwax Provincial.
I love how all the dents and dings stain darker than the rest.

I also stained the legs with the Provincial to antique the turquoise. I just wiped it on, let it sit a minute, and wiped it off. If some areas were a little heavy, I simply sanded it once it was more dry.

Now all that is left is the final finish (topcoat).
I’ll be back in a day to two for some Product Knowledge 101.

  1. It's a completely different table! I really like it.

I am on the edge of my seat~what is the foreign material?

  2. Jill says:

Beautiful! I also love how the stain catches in the dings and makes them darker. My boyfriend and I refinished his hardwood floor…from 1930 that had been covered in carpet for years, and it had the same effect. Love!

  3. Oh I love it. I am so happy you left the top stained, it looks wonderful with the distressed turquoise legs. Gorgeous. Hugs, Marty

  4. I love a good turquoise makeover! Looks fabulous!

I found you on Designer Blogs. I always like looking through to see their latest designs! Looking forward to reading more!

  5. Love the color combination with the dark richness of the wood and the glorious pop of turquoise! Well done!

  6. It's a beauty! The turqouise is a great colour. I have a dear friend like that. She recently gave me a farmhouse table and four windsor chairs. I just finished sanding the pine top to the bare wood and painting the base and chairs. She also gave me a cute little pine night table that I have plans for.

  7. Christa – this turned out absolutely beautiful. I mean that. And all of your attention to detail with the worm holes – oh my. I bet you are just loving it. And those salmon cans – what would you do without them? I just don't know. Cannot wait to come back when you share your product tip!

  8. that is STUNNING. oh, and your friend texted me. she wants her table back.
would love it if you would link it to my party!

  9. OMG that looks amazing! I am always so afraid to distress a piece thinking I'm somehow going to ruin it. Thanks for the play by play and next time I'm just gonna go for it. Hey, it can always be painted again. I just finished a piece and now I am wondering if I should distress. If you have a minute check out my blog, I'll be posting it tomorrow and would love to know your thoughts…to distress or not to?? Would love to hear your input.

  23. Wow that is absolutely stunning, I love the turquoise colour. I have to say though, I hate borer (what we call wood worm in NZ) and won't touch furniture that has any, and just couldn't bring myself to do fake borer holes, lol.

    GREAT TABLE!!!
I feel so silly for asking this, but what is 220? I would love to see a tutorial of how it's used with paint. I have all this mismatched, ugly, dark trim in my living room, and I would love to do what you've done with the legs, just a different color. PLEASE HELP!!!:)

  32. I would snatch this table up in a heartbeat! Typically I'm not a fan of southwestern style but this piece is so versatile it could be used in many different decor tastes.

Canned Salmon? Dare I even ask how you ended up with that? lol

    Blessings,
